Transcendent Garden is a spiritual growth movement curated by Kani Wilson. This garden is a place of healing for all beings who find themselves on the journey of discovering self. Our goal is to encourage the act of self care, to create space for self awareness, and to extend our love line (our knowledge). This movement towards self and peace is supported by blogs, collections of art, and a shop. Our garden is us and you, a collection of beings that wish to understand ourselves and in that we become ourselves.
Kani Wilson is an 21 year young artist and dreamer currently based in Philadelphia who actively pulls from her roots and knowledge of the land in Nashville, TN. Her exploration of self lives through paintings, writings, choreography and dance performance. Kani is interested in using her movement as a way to engage in feeling emotion while actively stepping away from disassociating from the world. She is influenced by her training in contact improvisation at the University of the Arts and the agency it brings to self. As she continues her exploration of what it means to be an artist she questions the integrity of attunement with the world and self.
Kani as an artist is the part of me that’s awake, the part of me that believes healing is possible, the part of me that refuses to go back to sleep. My artist personality is my ego cracked open, my ego learning to become a traveling disappearance, my ego learning to listen. I’m inspired by peaceful moments inside chaotic worlds. I’m inspired by rage and it’s demand for justice. My choreographic mind produces movement that works to accept the truth about being a black woman, about being scared, about being dreamy, about being romantic, about being traumatized, about being Kani. My artist self breathes in emotion and exhales disassociation. Kani as a creator is brave enough to feel, pushes to find urgency in connecting with the past, while actively disrupting time.
